VITO Project – London 29th March

The 27th screening of the VITO project took place on Wed 29th March: The Women. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Neil Bartlett, director and playwright, and Matt Harris, archivist and Joan Crawford Superfan. 

Vito Project – London 25th January

The 25th screening of the VITO project took place on Wed 25th January: Theorem. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Robert Chevara, director and writer, and Simon McCallum, archive projects curator for the BFI. Seán McGovern, ardent cinephile and VITO team member, will be our MC for the evening. 

VITO Project – London 30th November

The 23rd screening of the VITO project took place on Wed 30th November: Heavenly Creatures. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Helen Oakleigh, performer, writer and film maker, and Pamela Johnson, retired teacher and ardent cinephile. Neil Bartlett, director and author, was our MC for the night. 

VITO Project – London 28th September

The 21st screening of the VITO project took place on Wed 28th September: Stranger Inside. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Campbell X and Dorett Jones. Tabitha Benjamint was our MC for the night. 

The 19th screening of the VITO Project, took place on Wed 27th July: Strangers on a Train. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Brian Mullin and Stephane Duckett and Sean McGovern was our MC for the night. 

The 17th screening of the VITO Project, took place on Wed 25th May: Polyester. The screening was followed by an open discussion with Ben Walters and Stuart Feather and Amy Lamé was our MC for the night. 

The European ChemSex Forum was a preliminary intelligence gathering and networking event that will provide a platform to engage in international, cross-sector, multi-disciplinary dialogue and discussions around ChemSex – defined by the use of specific drugs (“Chems”) in a sexual context.

The 14th screening of the VITO Project, took place on Wed 24th February: Pariah. The screening was followed by an open discussion led by Chardine Taylor-Stone, cultural producer, musician, DJ and activist, and Gray Akotey, designer, entrepreneur, vlogger and aspiring filmmaker.

The 12th screening of the VITO Project, took place on Wed 30th december with a screening of Cabaret. To celebrate our first year of screenings, as well as the holiday season and the end of the year, the screening was followed by a party rather than a discussion. The night proved to be a success with a full capacity crowd. Photos of the night are available on our Tumblr page.

ACT UP London, ReShape and Cinema Museum‘s VITO Project, London Artists Projects and Hackney Attic presented:

Following the world premiere screening of PROUD in London, ReShape organised a series of screenings around the country. PROUD is a video documentary, directed by Nicholas Feustel and funded by the MRC, on the PROUD Study, a two year study that showed how a daily pill could offer excellent protection against HIV in the real world.

Each screening was followed by an open discussion on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) with a panel of community experts.

The eighth screening of the VITO Project, a series of free monthly screenings bringing generations of LGBTs together to provide an alternative space to mix, watch films and share ideas, took place on Wed 26th August: Stud Life. The screening was followed by an open discussion led by Ingo Cando, Producer of Wotever World events and Happenings and another speaker to be annouced soon. Cambell X, the film director will also join us as a special guest.  

‘Let’s Talk About Gay Sex and Drugs’: A communication forum open to all gay men living in London, to come talk about their experience of sex and drugs in the modern capital. Do you think there are still lingering elements of shame around gay sex? Do you think there is a problem with
sexualised drug use on the gay scene, such as mephedrone, G and crystal meth? Or do you think the matter has been blown out of proportion?
Come and have your say – everyone gets five minutes in front of the mic, and there’s no interrupting.
This is not a public debate, it’s a platform designed to express and listen to different voices, with each voice as valid as the next. Discussion afterwards is encouraged, though. Speak in whichever format you feel most comfortable with, be it the telling of a story that’s happened to you, spoken word poetics or simply getting stuff off your chest.
